Nursery Room

6 weeks to 15 months
In the Nursery Room the environment is calm and relaxed. We promote a sense of comfort and security. The physical environment is welcoming and set out age appropriate and aesthetically inviting for the children. Play is learning.
The Nursery Room program reflects individual children’s needs, interests, abilities and input from the children and families. Each child’s portfolios will contain many important learning stories and observations that are captured during the year. The children will be given opportunities to explore and engage in sensory play to assist the development of communication, fine motor skills, cognitive, social and emotional skills and physical development.
The safety and wellbeing of the nursery children is most important. The children will be kept safe and secure within the room. The educators will endeavour to ensure a clean and healthy environment following all practices and procedures.

Children will be transitioned into the education service with positive and effective communication. Children will

be nurtured and cared for to promote a sense of security and safety for each child. The educators will

endeavour to follow each child’s routine from home to the best of their abilities.

Interactions with the children will remain positive and playful. The communication between families, children and educators will remain professional at all times. We will endeavour to gain families trust in us and respect their individual needs.
We believe that the children are all unique and should be treated equally and fairly. Children will be protected and supported. Children will be supported with their learning to develop their sense of being, belonging and becoming as we create a program for the environment that facilitates these out comes.

We value early childhood education as the foundation for lifelong learning. We believe that each child is a unique individual and should be viewed, respected and treated as such. As the welfare and wellbeing of each child is paramount, we strive to provide holistic support of the child’s exclusive requirements and interests in a nurturing, familial environment that fosters the child’s development across all developmental domains.

Our early learning context supports scaffolding children’s learning and development through quality interactions with peers, parents and educators in the overall attempt to pave the way for an exploratory understanding of themselves, the world around them and their place in it.

Our educational programs are reflective of emergent curriculum and adhere to guidelines set by ACECQA, National Quality Framework and The Early Years Learning Framework, taking the child’s developmental level into account. Our programs are completed and implemented daily.

All staff strictly abides by a specialised code of ethics, ensuring that duty of care is successfully honoured at all times.

Partnerships with families provide us with invaluable information relating to cultural backgrounds and heritage. Carers strive to build relationships with families based on co-operation and a mutual respect for the reciprocal roles that each play in the lives of the child. Partnerships with families are developed through daily discussion, newsletters and meetings. Moreover, Kiddie Academy’s open door policy aims to facilitate an open flow of communication while maintaining confidentiality and respect of the privacy and wishes of each family, resulting in the highest levels of customer service.

Partnerships with industry professionals assist staff development and expansion of the curriculum to meet the individual and collective needs of all children. Needs based on cultural identity, additional support education and medical interventions which all require greater individual knowledge and supported cooperative teams, assures all children are facilitated in an inclusive environment as best as possible.

We believe that early childhood is a celebration of learning and honour of diversity that when valued and nurtured appropriately, fosters individuals that can positively contribute to their community and the greater society

As an Early Childhood Educator at Kiddie Academy, Mudgee I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.

As an Educator I will always strive to follow the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics, to commit to respect and maintain the rights and dignity of children, families, colleagues and communities.

It is my desire as an Educator to help your child reach their full potential by providing an environment that is safe and supports the sharing of ideas to which enables your child’s natural curiosity to direct his/her learning whilst promoting respect for all things and people.

Helping children to develop a deep love and respect for themselves, others and their environment through an open sharing of ideas and a judicious approach to discipline. When each child is heard an environment evolves where children feel safe to express themselves and grow into confident, respectful human beings.

We will provide a safe, happy and educational environment focusing on the opportunity to learn through play. We will encourage spontaneous thinking to develop independence, self-esteem and self-worth.

We will adapt the children’s environment to reflect the Early Years Learning Framework and work towards achieving belonging, being and becoming for all children.

We will expand upon a repertoire of pedagogical practices (teaching styles) to enhance children’s learning and use these practices to plan and implement children’s learning through play and being responsive to their individual interests.

Every child will be treated equally.

The children’s strengths will be nurtured in guidance with the Early Years Learning Framework. We will foster the diversity within the room remembering that all children are unique and learn differently.
We will provide encouragement for the children to further develop themselves as a whole focusing on the value of collaborative learning in a positive social setting.

In-regards to the families we will implement their experiences into the learning environment through written and verbal communication. We will also positively interact and communicate with our families to alleviate any concerns that may hinder the atmosphere of the environment.

We will liaise with the community and encourage their participation within the environment to promote more diverse learning within the broader community setting.

We will foster and promote the guidelines towards the children, families, community, staff and the centre as set out in the ECA Code of Ethics. We believe that implementing these guidelines into our environment facilitate a positive learning experience for all involved.
